Sarangan
Sarangan, also known as lake sand, is a natural lake located at an altitude of
1,200 meters above sea level and is located on the slopes of Mount Lawu,
District Plaosan, Magetan, East Java. This lake is about 16 kilometers west of
the city of Magetan. This lake covers approximately 30 hectares and a depth of
28 meters. With temperatures between 15 to 20 degrees Celsius, Sarangan able to
attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
Sarangan is the mainstay attractions Magetan. Around the lake there are two five-star hotels, 43 class jasmine, and 18 cottage. In addition to dozens of souvenir stalls, visitors can also enjoy the beautiful Sarangan by riding around the lake, or driving a fast boat. Other tourism facilities are also available, such as restaurants, playgrounds, tourist market, park, public telephones, places of worship, and a garden.
The existence of 19 restaurants around the lake make the visitors have plenty of alternative options menu. Similarly, the presence of vendors who offer a variety of gift has made it easier for visitors to buy souvenirs. Typical dishes are sold around the lake is a rabbit satay.
Magetan also helped by the potential of small local industries which produce handicrafts for souvenirs, such as woven bamboo, leather crafts, craft shoes, and typical food products such as melinjo and plates (crackers pulleys, namely rice crackers).
Sarangan also has a boat rental services and water tricycles. There were 51 motor boats and 13 water tricycles that can be used to explore the lake.
Sarangan has some important annual events calendar, which is moored in the offering on Friday Pon Ruwah month, in mid-year school holidays, Ledug Sura 1 Muharram, and fireworks on New Year's Eve.
Local district government was making the pass that connects the project Sarangan by tourism Grojogan Sewu Waterfall, Tawangmangu in Karanganyar. Pelandaian widening project and steep road that connects the two areas are expected to be completed in 2007.
This tourist attraction can be reached from the city of Magetan; and located not far to the Niagara Grojogan Sewu, Tawangmangu (Karanganyar, Central Java).
